The Yeast Exchange

Post by Michael Erwin » Wed Oct 26, 2011 4:29 pm

Realizing this might not be as popular as The Hop Exchange... but maybe it will get rolling...

Post what you need, and what you have to share...

And, of course, I'll go first...

Does anyone have a hefeweizen yeast to share by the weekend?

Or do I have to go buy a bottle of Schneider Weisse?

I started my 2 ♡ Ale yeast today (thanks Michael for his contribution) and I had to sacrifice and drink a couple of bottles myself and add the dregs to the started.

If I have all the ingredients in house I will brew it up this weekend or next which will give me plenty of yeast to share in a couple of weeks.

Let me know if you want some.

Tomorrow, I'm making a third batch of Wit's Up. I have White Labs Wit yeast available. I think it is WL400.

Jack, I am definitely interested.
I will be around tomorrow after work but will be out of town Saturday and Sunday.
Hopefully we can work something out.

Thank you.

I placed an order with Midwest Supplies a couple weeks ago and my yeast arrived partly frozen (slushy). Worried about the viability, I contacted customer service and they were nice enough to resend my yeasts free of charge!

So, now I have 3 extra packages of yeast with questionable viability if someone is interested in trying to propagate them.
  • White Labs European Ale Yeast WL011
  • Lactobacillus Activator Wyeast 5335
  • White Labs Abbey Ale WL530
I should be at the Janurary meeting.
